Cannes, a destination within reach of anyone
The iconic boulevard located along the Mediterranean Sea, at the Croisette, is the true heart of Cannes. Not only the French love the promenade, but also the tourists. Romantic couples or cute old women, chic ladies or pampered kids walk along with it. On the one hand, the sea with waves breaking on the beach with fine sand. On the other, luxury hotels and elegant boutiques.
The beaches, private or public, promise you great relaxation. Clean and well maintained, the public ones are an ideal choice for tourists who have a small budget / do not want to take a lot of money out of pocket. Located near the Palais des Festivals, Plage du Casino is the perfect place to put on your towel and sunbathe, while at Plage Macé, sunbeds and umbrellas can be rented at a reduced cost. In addition, a few stalls with soft drinks, coffee, snacks and ice cream are waiting for you nearby.
Simple, but good! Moules Marinières is definitely my favourite holiday dish. French. The combination of fresh seafood, wine and pieces of crispy baguette is irresistible. Tasteful and straightforward enough. Accompanied by live music.
Around September, the port of Canto hosts one of the largest yachting festivals in Europe. Over 120 new sailing boats participate in the events taking place, delighting passionate or amateur visitors. Concours d’Elegance, a beauty contest reserved for motorboats and yachts with less than 12 m, combines the presentation with an elegant crew, with at least one woman on board.
Slowly, the vessels begin to line up under the rippling of the waves. Hundreds of spectators gather along the promenade. When the blink of the night takes shape, dozens of colours invade the sky, illuminating it. The spectacular play of lights reaches the superlative. Absolute. The reflection of the fireworks over the water and soundscapes that accompany them transports the public in an enchanting world.
The Pyrotechnic Art Festival, which takes place annually between July and August, offers a multicoloured pyrotechnic battle, in which many countries compete. For six evenings, compositions created by the most significant international pyrotechnicians can be admired in the Gulf of Cannes, either on the Croisette or at the Palais des Festivals.
